Ofer Sela ends his tenure as CEO of the Israel Sinfonietta Beer-Sheva

Ofer Sela ends his tenure as CEO of the Israel Sinfonietta Beer-Sheva and moves on to direct the Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon Letzion.

Ofer Sela finishes his term as CEO of the orchestra, after 12 years during which he took the orchestra out of financial deficit, doubled the number of subscribers, initiated an improved collective agreement and established the orchestra as a leading cultural and musical institution. Starting next season Sela will be managing the Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon Letzion.

Ofer Sela, a member of Kibbutz Sde Yoav, has served as Administrative Director of the Israel Sinfonietta Beer-Sheva since 2005. In his tenure as Administrative Director of the orchestra, he consolidated and strengthened the orchestra's economic infrastructure, increased the number of subscribers and broadened its horizons, leading the Sinfonietta to new and significant achievements within the entire range of musical activities in Israel and abroad.

Sela began his term as CEO of the orchestra 12 years ago, at which point he faced a divided and collapsing institution with a budget deficit of more than one year. Most of his efforts at the beginning of his tenure were focused on fundraising, system stabilization and rescuing the orchestra. Sela doubled the number of subscribers to the orchestra which currently has over 3,500 subscribers. One of the most important moves in Sela's tenure was the signing of an updated collective agreement between the orchestra musicians’ committee and the Histadrut.

From Ofer Sela's words: “I see the opportunity that was given me to fulfill the role of  CEO of the Sinfonietta as a great gift. The time in Beer-Sheva was an amazing experience. Beer-Sheva will always hold a warm spot in my heart.”

Claudia Tzobel, VP of Operations and Marketing of the Sinfonietta, was appointed  as Sela's successor, for the coming season. Members of the public administration, headed by Dr. Meir Englart, elected her by majority vote.
Tzobel has served in the orchestra as marketing manager and vice president for the past ten years, and has performed the roles with great success.
